Phillies Players Criticize Jacob Misiorowski’s All-Star Game Selection
Several Phillies players expressed their discontent with MLB’s decision to include Jacob Misiorowski in the National League All-Star roster. They questioned the selection process and pointed out the Brewers rookie’s lack of experience in the Major Leagues. MLB announced that Misiorowski, who has only made five starts with Milwaukee, would replace Matthew Boyd, Cubs pitcher, on the National League team. The Phillies, already annoyed by what they considered exclusions from their team, expressed their resentment. It’s turning into the Savannah Bananas. The Phillies mentioned Ranger Suarez and Cristopher Sanchez as examples of players who deserved to be in the All-Star Game instead of Misiorowski. What a joke.

Misiorowski has a 4-1 record with an ERA of 2.83 in his five starts, with 33 strikeouts in 25.2 innings. His fastball averages 99.3 mph, and he has thrown 89 pitches at 100 mph or more this season.I have nothing against the Misiorowski kid. But those two (Suarez and Sanchez) deserve to be on the team.
J.T. Realmuto
Trea Turner wondered if popular additions like Misiorowski detract from the All-Star selection process.MLB focuses on the most marketable players. If they can have someone in the game who pitches an inning and throws 103, 104, they’re going to attract more attention.
Nick Castellanos
Yes, 100 percent. It’s not the All-Star Game in the sense that the best players go there, or the people who have had the best season. It’s who sells the most tickets or has been most promoted on social media. That’s what it has become.

Although not as flashy as Misiorowski, both Suarez and Sanchez have credentials worthy of the All-Star Game this season.
After missing the first month, Suarez is 7-3 with a 1.94 ERA in 83.2 innings, the lowest in the National League for any pitcher with at least 80 innings pitched. Suarez said that MLB invited him to the All-Star Game on the condition that he be available to pitch. The lefty said he declined, citing his desire to rest, and therefore, MLB opted not to name him an All-Star.Sanchez is 7-2 with a 2.59 ERA, the fourth-lowest in the league among qualified starters, and has a 4.1 WAR, the third-best among National League pitchers.Even if you’re going to ask him that, then he should be labeled as an All-Star at that moment. Not just if you can pitch.
Kyle Schwarber
Sanchez was scheduled to pitch Sunday’s Phillies game in San Diego against the Padres, which would likely restrict his availability in Tuesday’s All-Star Game in Atlanta. Turner, Realmuto, and Schwarber agreed that MLB could have named Sanchez to the roster and then selected another replacement. If (Sanchez) isn’t an All-Star, then nobody is.
Trea Turner
He should be named an All-Star.
Kyle Schwarber
It’s unacceptable that they can’t name him an All-Star and (replace him on the roster). So the only excuse for that guy not to be in the All-Star Game is that he can’t pitch that day? That’s terrible.
