Shakur Stevenson vs. William Zepeda: Clash of Titans in New York
The WBC lightweight champion, Shakur Stevenson, will defend his title against William Zepeda this Saturday at the Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens, New York. The main event is a 12-round super middleweight fight between Edgar Berlanga and Hamzah Sheeraz.
Stevenson, with an undefeated record of 23-0 and 11 knockouts, comes to this fight after a technical knockout victory in the ninth round over Josh Padley in February. In that fight, Stevenson sent Padley to the canvas three times with body shots in the ninth round.
Zepeda, who holds the WBC interim title, also maintains an undefeated record of 33-0, with 27 knockouts. Zepeda has won consecutive decisions over former junior lightweight champion Tevin Farmer, a split decision in November and a majority decision in March. In his previous 20 fights, Zepeda achieved 18 knockouts.
The co-main event features Edgar Berlanga, who has a record of 23-1, including 18 knockouts. Berlanga started his career with 16 consecutive first-round knockout victories, but has only managed two stoppage wins in his last eight fights. His only loss was to Canelo Álvarez last September.
Hamzah Sheeraz, with a record of 21-0-1 and 17 knockouts, will move up in weight to face Berlanga. Sheeraz accumulated a streak of 15 knockouts before his fight against WBC middleweight champion Carlos Adames ended in a split draw in February.
