The National Police carries out a successful earthquake evacuation drill
With the goal of strengthening the response capacity to natural disasters, the National Police carried out the 2026 Earthquake Evacuation Drill this Tuesday. The event, held at the institution’s headquarters in Santo Domingo, was led by the director general, Major General Ernesto R. Rodríguez García.
The exercise tested the efficiency of internal protocols, resulting in a total of 1,464 agents and collaborators working in the facilities being evacuated in an orderly manner. The staff managed to gather at the designated meeting points in the front plaza and the rear courtyard of the premises in a record time of three minutes.
Commitment to safety and prevention
This activity allowed for the evaluation of the coordination and immediate reaction capacity of the institution’s members. According to the authorities, the fundamental purpose is to ensure that every member knows and applies the necessary security protocols to safeguard the physical integrity of those who work at the police headquarters.
The staff’s performance has been satisfactory. The speed and level of organization demonstrated are a sign of the commitment to the culture of prevention that we are promoting in the institution.
