Hot weather and scarce rainfall will prevail this Friday in the Dominican Republic
The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) has reported that for this Friday, a predominantly hot environment with little cloud cover is expected across much of the national territory. These atmospheric conditions are caused by the influence of a dry air mass, combined with the presence of slight concentrations of Saharan dust, factors that will act as a natural barrier against the formation of significant precipitation.
Although the approach of a tropical wave towards the country is being recorded, experts point out that its impact will be limited due to the current meteorological environment, which does not favor the development of large cloud nuclei.
Localized precipitation forecast
Despite the general stability, an increase in cloud activity is expected during the afternoon, which could lead to isolated downpours in specific parts of the national geography. The provinces with the highest probability of experiencing these rains are:
- Monte Plata
- Hato Mayor
- Santiago Rodriguez
- San Juan
- Independencia
- Elias Piña
Recommendations for high temperatures
Temperatures will remain high, creating a stifling thermal sensation throughout the country. Minimum temperatures are forecast between 24 °C and 26 °C, while maximums will range between 34 °C and 36 °C.
Given this situation, Alofoke Deportes joins the call from meteorological authorities, urging the population to follow the following preventive measures:
- Maintain constant hydration by drinking water frequently.
- Wear lightweight clothing, preferably in light colors and loose fabrics.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during peak intensity hours.
- Pay special attention to the most vulnerable groups, such as children, the elderly, and pregnant women.
Conditions in Greater Santo Domingo
For the metropolitan area, the forecast indicates stable conditions. In the National District, partly cloudy skies are expected at times, while scattered clouds will prevail in Santo Domingo Norte. For its part, Santo Domingo Oeste will present intervals of clouds and Santo Domingo Este will experience slight cloud increases throughout the day.
