Pete Alonso and Kyle Schwarber Drop Out of the Home Run Derby
Two-time champion Pete Alonso of the New York Mets announced that he will not participate in this year’s Home Run Derby. The event will take place in Atlanta. Alonso, who won the event in 2019 and 2021, had participated in the last five editions.Alonso was selected for the All-Star Game for the fifth time. He is batting .287 with 20 home runs and 73 RBIs in 91 games. The Philadelphia Phillies slugger, Kyle Schwarber, also confirmed that he will not participate in the derby. Schwarber participated in 2018 and 2022.I just decided not to do it this year. I’ve never really enjoyed the three days off, so I just want to be in the best possible position to help this team win in the second half. I’ll definitely do it again. It doesn’t mean a no forever.

Schwarber was selected for the All-Star team for the third time in his career. He is batting .251 with 27 home runs and 63 RBIs in 90 games. Other players, such as Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees and Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers, are also expected to be absent from the event. Currently, there are only three confirmed participants for the Home Run Derby, which will take place next week: Cal Raleigh of the Seattle Mariners, James Wood of the Washington Nationals, and Ronald Acuña Jr. of the Atlanta Braves.I’m not going to participate in the Home Run Derby.
