Increase in school attendance marks the second day of the 2026-2027 academic year
The Dominican public education system reported a notable increase in student attendance this Tuesday, marking the second day of classes for the 2026-2027 school year. Various educational centers nationwide reported an integration rate ranging between 85% and 93% of their total enrollment, reflecting a positive response to the official call to classrooms.
At the República de Perú School, academic authorities highlighted that student attendance doubled compared to the opening day, reaching 93% attendance. Julissa Boden, coordinator of the secondary level, emphasized the students’ motivation and projected that the entire enrollment will be integrated over the course of the week.

Factors driving the return to the classrooms
The República de Chile School, located in the San Carlos sector, also experienced a significant rebound, raising its attendance from 75% to 85%. According to its director, Manuel de los Santos, this growth is due to the consolidation of the extended school day, which guarantees breakfast and lunch services, in addition to the active commitment of families in the return process.
For its part, the República de Brasil School reported an increase, going from 127 students on Monday to 187 this Tuesday. María Trinidad Francisco, the center’s director, clarified that the enrollment process remains open, which will allow the number of students to continue rising over the coming days.
