Ernesto Rafael Rodríguez García assumes leadership of the National Police before the Joint Task Force
Major General Ernesto Rafael Rodríguez García made his debut this Monday at the weekly meeting of the Joint Task Force, a space led by President Luis Abinader to monitor citizen security indicators in the national territory. In his first official meeting, the new Director General of the National Police reaffirmed his commitment to the institution and to the ongoing police reform process.
With a career spanning 39 years of uninterrupted service within the police ranks, Rodríguez García expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in his management. The high command assured that he will give his maximum effort to meet the goals set in terms of security, under the premise of maintaining a transparent management strictly adhering to legality.

Commitment to institutionality and citizen rights
During his speech, the director emphasized that his administration will be governed by the precepts of the Constitution and the Organic Law of the National Police. Likewise, he underscored the importance of internal oversight, delegating to the General Inspectorate and the Internal Affairs Directorate the necessary vigilance to sanction any behavior that violates human rights, the dignity of individuals, or the current legal frameworks.
Among the pillars of his management, the major general highlighted:
- Constant protection for both Dominican citizens and foreign visitors.
- Strict compliance with the guidelines of the Executive Branch.
- Strengthening of institutional internal control mechanisms.
- Promotion of close collaboration between the citizenry and law enforcement officers.
Finally, Rodríguez García called on the population to work together, reminding them that security is a shared responsibility. The director reiterated that the institution’s main mission is to serve and protect, requesting citizen support to successfully face the country’s current challenges in terms of public security.
