UEFA Sanctions Barcelona for Financial Irregularities

UEFA confirmed this Friday a financial sanction to FC Barcelona for a value of 60 million euros. Of this amount, the Catalan club must pay 15 million immediately. The payment of the remaining 45 million will be subject to the fulfillment of certain requirements established in the UEFA financial regulations for a period of two years. The club has accepted the disciplinary measures imposed by the Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) Chamber. The reason for the sanction lies in the non-compliance with financial stability requirements, specifically regarding the regulations on club licensing and financial sustainability of 2024. UEFA indicates that Barcelona did not comply with the Football Earnings rule, by presenting an aggregate deficit exceeding the acceptable deviation in the 2024/25 season, corresponding to the reporting periods ending in 2023 and 2024. The settlement agreement, with a duration of two years, was accepted by the club on July 3rd.
