The Spanish motorcycling world is in mourning following the death of Borja Gómez Rus, a young rider of only 20 years old. The tragic event occurred during a training session at the Magny-Cours circuit, France. Originally from San Javier, Murcia, Gómez participated in tests for the European Stock 1,000 Championship with Team Honda Laglisse. According to initial reports, the rider lost control of his bike on a curve, going off the track and being hit by another competitor who could not avoid him.

A Lost Promise

Borja Gómez demonstrated a notable rise in motorcycling from his beginnings at age 9. In 2014, he competed in the Spanish Minimotard65 Championship, quickly standing out. Over the years, he accumulated important achievements, including a title in the Supersport category of the Spanish Superbike Championship in 2021 and a runner-up position in Superbike 1,000 in 2022. His international projection was consolidated in October 2022 with his debut in the Moto2 World Championship, at the Malaysian Grand Prix, replacing Jorge Navarro. He finished that season scoring points in the Valencian Community GP, establishing himself as one of the great promises of Spanish motorcycling. In the current 2025 season, he was leading the standings of the European Stock 1,000 Championship, after a victory at the MotorLand Aragón circuit. His constant progress and professionalism augured a bright future in the top categories of world motorcycling.

With all the pain in our hearts, we regret to announce that Borja Gómez has passed away at the Magny-Cours circuit after a serious accident. Beyond his exceptional talent as a driver, we will remember Borja as the great person he was. His friendliness and his smile will be eternal. We will always carry him in our hearts.
