SANTO DOMINGO – Successful manager Anderson Hernández, who led the Dominican team to victory in the Caribbean Series Kids, has been confirmed to manage the national team again in the 2025 edition. This important event will be held in Venezuela. Hernández, with a distinguished career in baseball, will bring his experience and leadership to the Dominican team.

Anderson Hernandez’s Career

With a distinguished professional career, Hernández played six seasons in the Major Leagues, defending the colors of the New York Mets, Washington Nationals, Cleveland Indians, and Houston Astros. Subsequently, he ventured into the Mexican Baseball League in 2013, where he represented teams such as Campeche, Laguna, Tecolotes, and Tabasco. In addition, Hernández had a distinguished 16-season career in the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), playing 15 of them with the Tigres del Licey. During his time in the local league, he received the Rookie of the Year award in the 2005-06 season and was recognized as the Most Valuable Player in the Final Series of that same campaign, repeating the award in the 2008-09 tournament. In one season, Hernández set a record for doubles (20) and achieved a batting average of .365. His performance in the Round Robin was notable, with a batting average of .292, and in the finals, he reached an average of .350. Hernández also participated in the Japanese League, where he demonstrated his defensive ability, excelling at second base and as shortstop. Currently, Hernández serves as infield coach and assistant coach in the parallel league. In 2025, the renowned former Tigres del Licey player was hired as one of the coaches who were part of the coaching staff of the Leones de Yucatán team for the Mexican Baseball League season. The Caribbean Series Kids, which had its first edition this year, featured the participation of teams from the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Panama, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Nicaragua.
