Dominican-Catalan Group Announces Golf Tournament Dedicated to César Rivera
Santo Domingo. The Dominican-Catalan Group and Punta Blanca Golf and Beach Club have announced the XVIII edition of their traditional annual golf tournament. This year, the event will be dedicated to Don César Rivera, an emblematic figure of Dominican sports. The tournament will be held from Friday, September 12th to Sunday, September 14th. The announcement was made during a cocktail-dinner at the La Romana Hunting and Fishing Club, where the organization expressed its satisfaction for honoring an ally of national golf.“I feel very excited, not only for this recognition, but also because I have had the great opportunity to see that in my country they have closely followed my work of more than 50 years in this sport. I have a life dedicated to golf, a toil that includes offering seminars, working on the rules, calibrating courses, more than 26 years belonging to the USGA in which I was able to work on rules in 10 US Opens, and I am a founding member of the Caribbean Golf Association (CGA) in 1986, so I have a very long history in sports that also includes a long career as a volleyball referee, so I greatly appreciate this recognition”,
Rivera
In previous editions, the tournament has honored prominent figures from the business and golf world, including Don Teodoro García Trabadelo, Homero Saviñón, Kalil Haché, Miguel Flaquer, Abel González (Cayo), Francisco Melo, Ernesto Izquierdo, Eusebio Núñez Malena, George Bell, José Zapata, Rafael Villalona, José -Miñín- Soto, Luis Alcántara, Marcos Troncoso, and Paul Scheer.
“We thank this club for receiving us. This dedication is very special to us because of how special Don César is to us. What better way to celebrate our 18th tournament than by paying tribute to a great figure of Dominican golf who has always been on the side of the best interests of this sport”,
Antonio Ramis, general director of the Dominican-Catalan Group and the Punta Blanca Golf and Beach Club
