Weather forecast: Intense heat and scattered showers this Saturday in the Dominican Republic
The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) has issued its updated report for this Saturday, highlighting a weather outlook marked by high temperatures and the occurrence of isolated showers in various areas of the national territory. From the early hours of the day, residents in La Altagracia, San Pedro de Macorís, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, Sánchez Ramírez, María Trinidad Sánchez, La Vega, Monseñor Nouel, as well as in Santo Domingo and the National District, could experience these meteorological conditions.
Influence of a tropical wave
The presence of a tropical wave over the Lesser Antilles will be the determining factor for the change in weather conditions. This phenomenon will increase humidity and atmospheric instability, leading to downpours that could become heavy in specific areas, accompanied by thunderstorms and wind gusts. The provinces under advisory due to these changes include, in addition to those mentioned, La Romana, Samaná, Duarte, Monte Plata, San Cristóbal, San José de Ocoa, Peravia, Azua, and Barahona.
Indomet maintains constant surveillance over an area of showers and thunderstorms located in the central Atlantic, more than 1,500 kilometers west of the Cape Verde Islands. Currently, this system has a low probability of developing into a tropical cyclone.
Details about temperatures
The environment will remain hot for much of the day, with temperatures ranging between 32 and 34 degrees Celsius for highs, while lows will be between 24 and 26 degrees. For Greater Santo Domingo, the following behavior is expected:
- National District: Scattered clouds and a high heat index due to the heat.
- North Santo Domingo: Predominance of scattered clouds.
- West Santo Domingo: Hot environment with isolated clouds.
- East Santo Domingo: Hot conditions and isolated clouds.
In Greater Santo Domingo, maximum temperatures will reach values between 33 °C and 35 °C, with minimums ranging between 23 °C and 25 °C. The population is advised to stay hydrated and avoid direct sun exposure during periods of peak radiation.
