Public Ministry reveals that Jean Alain Rodríguez attempted to negotiate a plea deal
The judicial process facing former Attorney General Jean Alain Rodríguez has taken an informative turn following the statements of Deputy Attorney General Yeni Berenice Reynoso. According to the magistrate, it was the former official himself who attempted to reach an agreement with the Public Prosecutor’s Office through a formal proposal submitted in writing, which was rejected by the prosecuting body.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office never offered that gentleman a plea deal; that gentleman did offer the Public Prosecutor’s Office a plea deal, and he did so in writing.

Reynoso clarified that, due to provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure, it is not possible to reveal the details of said proposal as no negotiation has been finalized. Likewise, he described the defense’s actions as a delaying strategy, asserting that Rodriguez has constantly sought to evade the judicial process.
Robustness of evidence and defense of legality
Faced with the defense’s questioning regarding alleged evidence tampering, the prosecutor was emphatic in pointing out that the Public Ministry possesses an immense amount of evidentiary elements, sufficient to support multiple convictions. For his part, the Director General of Prosecution, Wilson Camacho, denied any technical irregularities in the digital evidence.
- Digital evidence: Camacho explained that the use of compressed files is a standard practice to optimize storage and does not represent an alteration of the information.
- Scope of the case: The file has a total of 34 lines of investigation.
- Admission of facts: During the preliminary hearing, 29 people involved accepted the charges brought by the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
Expectation regarding the court’s decision
The case, which has established itself as one of the most significant proceedings in the Dominican judicial system, is at a crucial stage. The Second Collegiate Court of the National District is scheduled to issue its ruling next Monday, August 17, regarding the request for the dismissal of the proceedings filed by Jean Alain Rodríguez’s defense.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office maintains its firm stance, arguing that there are no legal grounds to declare the extinction of the case. The judicial resolution will set a decisive precedent regarding the future of this file and the continuity of the upcoming procedural stages.
