Kelvin Cruz Inaugurates Bajo Techo Garibaldi Almonte in Cotuí After Renovation
Cotuí, Sánchez Ramírez – The Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, led the delivery of the renovated multi-purpose indoor facility Professor Garibaldi Almonte this Thursday. The remodeling, which represents an investment of 17.5 million pesos, will benefit the community of Cotuí and nearby areas. The now fully modernized facility will serve as a space for sports, social, recreational, religious, and cultural activities.The investment included 12.5 million pesos contributed by the Ministry of Sports (Miderec) and 5 million pesos managed for the asphalting of the exterior area through Public Works, totaling 17.5 million pesos. The minister highlighted that the renovated facility will offer the residents of Cotuí a place to practice sports and carry out various social activities. In the ceremony, Minister Cruz was accompanied by Ricardo de los Santos, provincial senator and president of the Senate of the Republic; José Eugenio Montilla, mayor of Cotuí; Cristiana Rodríguez, provincial governor; Apolinar Camacho, director of Provincial Sports; Daniel Landeón, director of Regional Sports; Juan Gabriel Peguero, president of the Basketball Association of Sánchez Ramírez (Abaprosara); and Professor Garibaldi Almonte, whose name honors the multipurpose facility.“This remodeling is part of the national project for the renovation and construction of sports facilities promoted by the Government of President Luis Abinader”, said Cruz.

Remodeling Details
The renovation of the low ceiling included:- Bathroom repair and water pump installation.
- Dismantling and installation of chain-link mesh.
- Installation of new FIBA-certified wooden flooring.
- Lateral closure in Aluzinc and special paint on the floor.
- General roof maintenance.
- Beautification of the environment, including the placement of asphalt concrete carpet in parking areas and electrical installations.
