Reilly Smith Secures His Future with the Golden Knights

Veteran forward Reilly Smith has reached an agreement to extend his contract for one year and two million dollars with the Vegas Golden Knights, according to multiple reports. This agreement also includes a clause that prevents any possible transfer of the player.

Smith, one of the original members of the Golden Knights’ expansion team in 2017, has had a distinguished career in the NHL.

Before joining the Golden Knights, Smith played six seasons in the NHL with the Dallas Stars, the Boston Bruins, and the Florida Panthers, spending two seasons with each team.

In 2023, he was traded to Pittsburgh, but returned to Vegas in a move made before the trade deadline, seeking to strengthen the team for the playoffs.

In the recent season, Smith scored three goals and provided eight assists in 21 games for the Golden Knights, who were eliminated in the second round of the NHL playoffs by the Edmonton Oilers.

Although his current numbers don’t match his best seasons in Vegas, where he had his best results in terms of goals and assists, Smith’s experience is still valuable to the team.

Smith, who was part of the Stanley Cup-winning team in 2023, ranks third in franchise history with 127 goals and fifth in assists (170) and points (297). In his career, Smith has scored 226 goals and provided 327 assists, totaling 553 points in 919 games.
