The sale of the Timberwolves and Lynx to Alex Rodríguez and Marc Lore approved
The NBA Board of Governors has given the green light to the sale of the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Minnesota Lynx to the investment group led by former baseball player Alex Rodriguez and tech entrepreneur Marc Lore. The transaction, valued at $1.5 billion, was approved unanimously this Tuesday. This decision ends a process that spanned more than four years, since outgoing owner Glen Taylor initially agreed to the sale in 2021. Despite Taylor’s attempts to stop the operation last year, the league finally validated the transfer, which will be completed this week. The investor group will assume full control of both franchises, including the Minnesota Lynx, four-time WNBA champions. Lore will be the primary governor of the Timberwolves, while Rodríguez will serve as the alternate governor. In the case of the Lynx, the roles are reversed, with Rodríguez as the primary governor.We are honored by this opportunity. Marc Lore
Rodríguez and Lore met in 2020 during the pandemic. The official presentation of Rodríguez and Lore as the new owners will take place in July in Las Vegas, during the NBA Summer League.
