NBA Bombshell: Celtics, Hawks, and Nets in a Mega-Trade

A three-team move is about to shake up the NBA. The Boston Celtics, the Atlanta Hawks, and the Brooklyn Nets are in the final stages of an agreement involving several key pieces. Kristaps Porzingis and a second-round pick will head to the Hawks. Terance Mann and the number 22 pick from Atlanta will reinforce the Nets. For their part, Georges Niang and a second-round pick will go to the Celtics. This move underscores the Celtics’ active strategy in the market. On Monday, the Celtics sent Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for Anfernee Simons and two second-round picks. In total, these exchanges will allow Boston to save approximately $180 million in tax penalties. In the past season, Porzingis, 29 years old, averaged 19.5 points and 6.8 rebounds, contributing to the Celtics’ 61-21 regular season record. The team was eliminated in the second round by the New York Knicks, one of Porzingis’ former teams. Niang, 32, averaged 9.9 points and 3.4 rebounds for the Hawks last season.
