Luke Richardson Joins the Predators’ Coaching Staff
The Nashville Predators have bolstered their coaching staff with the addition of Luke Richardson as an assistant. The former Chicago Blackhawks coach will bring his vast experience in the NHL. Richardson joins Derek MacKenzie, Darby Hendrickson, and goaltending coach Ben Vanderklok, under the direction of Andrew Brunette. General Manager Barry Trotz highlighted Richardson’s valuable experience, both as a player and a coach.Richardson will take over from Todd Richards, who joined the team in October 2020. Before arriving in Nashville, Richardson coached the Blackhawks before being fired on December 5, 2024, early in his third season. In addition, he has worked as an assistant coach with the Montreal, New York Islanders and Ottawa. As a player, Richardson played 1,417 games as a defenseman during 21 seasons in the NHL. Nashville’s assistant coaches have a combined total of 3,656 regular season games played in the NHL.“We believe he will be a valuable new voice and a fresh pair of eyes, not only for our advocates, but also for our technical staff,” Trotz commented. “His strong character, leadership, perspective as a former NHL head coach, and his ability to connect with young and veteran players will elevate our team on and off the ice.”
