Mourinho denies Real Madrid contacts and focuses on Benfica
LISBON – José Mourinho, renowned Portuguese coach, has categorically denied any approach from Real Madrid, thus dispelling rumors about a possible return to the white club. “No one from Real Madrid spoke to me, I can guarantee it,” Mourinho declared in a press conference prior to the match between his team, Benfica, and Famalicão, corresponding to the Portuguese league. The coach, who led Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013, downplayed the speculation and emphasized his focus on the current project he leads in Lisbon. He also recalled that he still has a year left on his contract with Benfica.When questioned about his future, Mourinho preferred not to go into details, reiterating his commitment to Benfica and the goal of qualifying the team for the Champions League. The name of the experienced coach had been mentioned as a possible replacement for Álvaro Arbeloa in the merengue team, but Mourinho made it clear that he has no plans to leave Benfica in the short term. Currently, Benfica is in second position in the Portuguese league, accumulating 75 points, seven behind the leader, FC Porto, in the final phase of the championship.My priority is to fulfill my contract with Benfica.
