A try by Romain Taofifenua after the final whistle gave France XV the victory over England XV with a score of 26-24 in an unofficial match played at the Allianz Stadium in Twickenham on Saturday. The match was marked by the disappointing return of the injured Immanuel Feyi-Waboso.
Taofifenua managed to cross the try line after England led 24-12 with five minutes to go. The match, which featured four tries and a red card for each team, served as preparation for England’s tour of Argentina and the United States, while France prepares for three test matches in New Zealand next month.
France scored two early tries. Gaetan Barlot, the hooker, crossed the line in the corner after escaping from a maul, and Hugo Auradou, the second row, burst into England’s 22 after the visitors lost the ball in the ruck.Un Inglaterra XV sufrió una derrota 26-24 ante Francia en el suroeste de Londres el sábado.England improved their game and, after constant pressure in the French 22 zone, Tom Willis, the number 8, scored a try in the corner before Alex Coles, the second row, received a short pass from Seb Atkinson to cross the line.
Feyi-Waboso, playing his first match since December after recovering from an injury, made two simple handling errors before receiving a 30-minute red card shortly after the half-hour mark. He was penalized for a high tackle that hit the head of French fly-half Antoine Hastoy. Initially a yellow card, it was converted to red after the review in the bunker.
Despite their numerical disadvantage, England led 19-12 at halftime when another strong run from Atkinson broke the French defensive line and his pass to Joe Carpenter set up another try.
After a red card for French forward Cameron Woki, which was upgraded from a yellow after the review in the bunker, England added a fourth try when substitute Alex Dombrandt scored in the corner.
However, France had the advantage in the forwards and scored two more tries, with Taofifenua’s effort converted by Hastoy to secure the French victory.
