In his message, Wilson expressed gratitude for the experiences lived, from his beginnings to his time in the league.
After much reflection and prayer, I have decided to officially retire from the NFL. Football gave me more than I ever could have imagined.
During his five seasons with the Bengals, Wilson started in 65 games, accumulating 541 tackles and 11 interceptions. He was a key figure in the team’s run to Super Bowl LVI.
Wilson fondly remembered highlights, such as the memorable 2021 playoff run and the birth of his daughter.
In 2025, he was named team captain, but was relegated to the bench, which led to his transfer to the Cowboys.
The Cowboys acquired Wilson in exchange for a seventh-round pick in 2026. In seven games with Dallas, he recorded 28 tackles and a forced fumble, although he only started once.
Despite the challenges in his position and in the defense in general, the Cowboys kept Kenneth Murray Jr. as a starter over Wilson. In the Christmas game against the Washington Commanders, Wilson didn’t play a single snap, a mistake that was acknowledged by the coaches.
The Cowboys released him on February 20th.
