The Pittsburgh Pirates activated starting catcher Joey Bart from the 7-day injured list this Tuesday, prior to the game against the Detroit Tigers.
Bart hasn’t played since May 27, when he was substituted in the fifth inning due to symptoms similar to a concussion. This happened after being hit in the helmet by a backswing and being hit by a foul ball, during the game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The 28-year-old receiver, who was out of action for 17 games, has an offensive line of .240/.347/.308 in 44 games this season. He had a good start to the year, but in his last 12 games before going on the injured list, he went 4-43, with a double, an RBI, and three walks.
During his five-game rehabilitation assignment with the Triple-A Indianapolis team, Bart batted 3-for-13, with two RBIs, four walks, and one hit by pitch.
