Toros del Este Sign Jesús Sánchez: A Key Reinforcement for the Season

La Romana – Los Toros del Este continue to strengthen their team for the upcoming season, announcing the renewal of the contract of the Major League outfielder, Jesús Sánchez. Jesús Mejía, general manager of the Romanense team, emphasized the importance of this strategic agreement for the club’s competitive project. “We have secured an impact player, a fundamental piece in our core. We trust in his contribution both on the field and in the locker room,” said Mejía, reiterating the goal of building a team with championship aspirations. Sánchez, selected by the Toros in the 2017 Rookie Draft, debuted that same year in the Dominican League. In six seasons with the team, he has maintained a .270 average, a .347 on-base percentage, and a .391 slugging percentage, accumulating 22 doubles, 2 home runs, and 26 RBIs in 68 games. In Major League Baseball, Sánchez debuted in 2020 with the Miami Marlins, then moved to the Houston Astros and for the 2026 season will play with the Toronto Blue Jays. In 580 games in the “Big Show”, he has recorded 92 doubles, 73 home runs and 238 RBIs. With this renewal, the Toros have already secured seven players. In addition to Sánchez, they have renewed relievers Yaramil Hiraldo, Miguel Castro, Gerson Moreno and José Adames, as well as starters Félix Peña and Pedro Fernández. Management has also communicated that they are in talks with other reserve players of the club to ensure their permanence and maintain the team’s base in their quest for the championship.
