Sergio Pettis vs. Mitch McKee: Stellar Clash in PFL
The bantamweight landscape in the PFL will be defined on April 11, when former Bellator MMA champion Sergio Pettis faces Mitch McKee at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago. The PFL has yet to crown its first 135-pound world champion, but it will take a significant step towards that goal with this matchup.PFL is transitioning from its previous playoff and tournament format, favoring traditional matchmaking. The promotion’s five current champions have been crowned in the last seven months. The PFL’s bantamweight, featherweight, and women’s flyweight championships remain vacant for now. Pettis (25-7) is already a clear title contender. The 32-year-old fighter suffered consecutive defeats against Patchy Mix and Kyoji Horiguchi in 2023 and 2024, but recovered with two victories in 2025, including a spectacular knockout over Magomed Magomedov in October. McKee (10-0), from Minnesota, is a 28-year-old contender with strong punching power, with six knockouts in 10 career victories. In addition to the main event, the PFL has scheduled a middleweight co-main event between Jordan Newman (8-0) and Josh Silveira (15-5).This fight will have serious implications for the title, and the winner will advance directly to the 135-pound championship contest. Sergio is at the top of our bantamweight rankings right now, while Mitch McKee (10-0) is an undefeated rising force. In a way, this is not just a main event for us, it’s a divisional turning point.
