Roger Federer: Induction Ceremony Sells Out in Minutes
NEWPORT, R.I. – Roger Federer’s induction ceremony into the International Tennis Hall of Fame sold out in just two minutes, the institution announced on Wednesday. The news comes despite the fact that thousands of additional tickets were made available for an outdoor party. The Hall anticipated the enthusiasm generated by the incorporation of the first man to win 20 Grand Slam singles titles. The ceremony, which will be held in Newport on August 29, will also include the induction of commentator Mary Carillo. In addition to the 900 tickets initially available for the ceremony, the 3,600-seat stadium was made available for a viewing party. Despite this, the 4,500 tickets sold out in two minutes, according to Megan Erbes, spokesperson for the Hall. The Tennis Hall of Fame, located in the 19th-century Newport Casino, recently completed a $3 million renovation to prepare for the upcoming induction ceremonies, which will honor Federer and Serena Williams, who will be eligible next year, unless she decides to return to competition.“As a small but historic venue, our capacity is limited,” the Hall communicated via social media.
