Paul George Suspended for 25 Games: A Harsh Setback for the 76ers
The NBA has announced the suspension of Paul George, star of the Philadelphia 76ers, for 25 games due to a violation of the league’s anti-doping policy. The sanction will begin to apply this Saturday, January 31, coinciding with the match between the Sixers and the New Orleans Pelicans. George will not be able to return to the courts until March 25.The player has issued a statement in which he takes responsibility for what happened. George explained that the breach occurred while he was seeking medical treatment. In the statement, the forward expressed his regret and offered apologies to the organization, his teammates, and the Philadelphia fans. George has assured that he will take advantage of this suspension time to focus on his physical and mental recovery, with the aim of returning in optimal conditions to contribute to the team. Paul George joined the 76ers in 2024, after leaving the Los Angeles Clippers, through a four-year, $212 million contract. This season, he has participated in 27 games, averaging 16 points in 30.5 minutes per game. Additionally, the player missed the first 12 games of the season due to arthroscopic surgery on his left knee, an injury sustained during training.
