National Sports Federations Train in Transparency and Accountability
National Sports Federations participated this Friday in a crucial workshop on “Good Practices of Transparency and Accountability.” The initiative, promoted by the Ministry of the Presidency and the Chamber of Accounts of the Dominican Republic, seeks to strengthen the management of public resources in the sports field. The event, held at the Auditorium of the Dominican Sports Hall of Fame, was attended by approximately 70 representatives, including presidents and finance officers of the federations. The workshop was led by the Center for the Promotion and Promotion of Non-Profit Associations (ASFL), attached to the Ministry of the Presidency. This workshop is the first in a series of meetings designed to guide federations in the preparation and presentation of financial reports to the Audit Chamber. The main objective is to ensure transparency in the management of state funds allocated to sports.Ms. Vielka Polanco, Executive Director of the Center for the Promotion and Promotion of ASFLs, emphasized the importance of these trainings for the development of sport. During her speech, Polanco addressed key issues such as good governance practices, the quality of accountability, and transparency in digital media. Engineer Garibaldy Bautista, president of the Dominican Olympic Committee, expressed his optimism about the positive impact of the workshops on the public perception of sports federations.We do all this with the purpose of strengthening the sports movement and ensuring that more children and young people have access to sports.

The Vice Minister of Sports, Franklyn de la Mota, representing Minister Kelvin Cruz, was also present at the activity. De la Mota described the event as “a special day”, highlighting the need to continue working on transparency in the management of sports resources. Ivette Melo, director of Budget Analysis of the Chamber of Accounts, represented the president of the entity, Emma Polanco. Melo thanked the attendees and emphasized the relevance of transparency in the use of public funds. Analysts María Ysabel Terrero and Jasmín Urbáez, along with Michelle Cosme, led the first session of the workshop. Leivi Pérez, in charge of the Accountability Division of the National Center for the Promotion and Promotion of Non-Profit Associations, presented the benefits of automation and digitization in the accountability process.I hope that what we have learned here we put into practice, since we are always in the eye of the hurricane of public opinion. These workshops will serve to strengthen the actions and transparency of the federations and the Olympic movement.
