Byron Buxton Joins Team USA for the 2026 World Baseball Classic
The Minnesota Twins’ star outfielder, Byron Buxton, has been officially included in the United States team roster for the 2026 World Baseball Classic. This was announced by the North American team through its official platforms.
For Buxton, 32, this will be his first participation in the World Baseball Classic, joining an all-star lineup packed with Major League figures who will seek to reaffirm American dominance in this prestigious event.
The swift outfielder joins a star-studded team that already includes figures like Aaron Judge, Gunnar Henderson, Corbin Carroll, Kyle Schwarber, Tarik Skubal, Paul Skenes, and Mason Miller, among others. Buxton arrives at the World Classic after one of the best seasons of his career in 2025. Despite some physical limitations, he participated in 126 games, setting personal records in home runs (35), RBIs (83), and runs scored (97), in addition to adding 24 stolen bases and a solid offensive line of .264/.327/.551.
This performance earned him his first Silver Slugger Award, solidifying his position as one of the most complete players in Major League Baseball.
Selected in the second overall spot of the 2012 Draft, Buxton has developed his entire career in Minnesota and will now have the opportunity to represent Team USA on an international stage.Debut against Brazil
