Wrestlepalooza: Detailed Analysis of the Matches and Overall Evaluation
The
Wrestlepalooza event, the start of WWE’s live events, took place on Saturday at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, offering a card full of action and surprises.
In
Alofoke Deportes, we analyze each fight based on the narrative, performance in the ring, and overall entertainment. Below, we present the results and evaluations of each match.
Women’s World Championship: Iyo Sky vs. Stephanie Vaquer
Result: Vaquer defeated Sky by a count of three.
Rating: B+
This match was exceptional, starring two of WWE’s best female wrestlers. The first half was a game of chess with precise counterattacks. In the final phase, Vaquer focused on Sky’s knee, which gave her the necessary advantage. Sky reacted with knee strikes and a spectacular Spanish Fly, but her knee prevented her from executing a second Over The Moonsault. Vaquer took advantage of this to apply a Spinal Tap and secure the victory. A match you can’t miss.
Tag Team Match: The Usos vs. The Vision
Result: The Vision defeated The Usos by a three-count.
Rating: C
The first part of the match was slow, with a focus on the decisions of the special referee, LA Knight. Surprisingly, he allowed the use of chairs and tables. The action improved after a near three-count following a 1-D from The Usos. Both teams executed spears before Jey Uso applied an Uso Splash, but he was accidentally hit with a chair, which caused a pause. Breakker applied a spear to both Usos through a table, and Reed finished with a Tsunami. The slow initial pace seemed to be heading for a strong finish, but Jey’s injury interrupted the finish. Although it wasn’t a bad match, The Usos have had better performances.
Mixed Tag Team Match: CM Punk and AJ Lee vs. Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch
Result: Punk and Lee defeated Rollins and Lynch by submission.
Rating: C
Mixed fights are difficult to execute from a purely wrestling point of view, prioritizing entertainment. The first part focused on preventing Lee from entering the ring. This changed when Punk was able to tag in. Lee showed that he hasn’t lost his skill, and the match was filled with chaos. There were finisher and Sharpshooter attempts. The end came after a dangerous spot in which Lynch threw Lee from a commentary table. Lee returned to the ring and applied his Black Widow for the victory. The duration of almost 30 minutes was excessive, but it was great to see Lee back. The next step could be a Lee challenge for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship against Lynch.
Undisputed WWE Championship: Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre
Individual Match: John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar
Result: Lesnar defeated Cena by a three count.
Rating: C-
The seventh singles match between Cena and Lesnar felt more like a prelude to their next confrontation than a match in itself. Lesnar quickly dominated, taking Cena to Suplex City. Cena responded with three Attitude Adjustments, but couldn’t keep Lesnar down. Lesnar intercepted the Five-Knuckle Shuffle and connected six F-5s for a dominant victory. The nine-minute match consisted of few moves. It’s what is expected of Lesnar.
Overall Rating of WWE Wrestlepalooza: C
The excellent match between Vaquer and Sky saved this event from being average. However, the overall event did not meet expectations, with disappointing matches. For an event that promised epic moments, it fell short.
