DiJonai Carrington Misses Rest of Postseason Due to Injury

Minnesota Lynx guard DiJonai Carrington will be unable to participate in the remainder of the postseason due to an injury. The team announced on Saturday that tests revealed a “significant midfoot sprain.”

An MRI confirmed the sprain, after Carrington was initially ruled out for Game 1 of the WNBA semi-final series against the Phoenix Mercury, on Sunday.

Carrington appeared to injure her foot at the end of Game 2 of the first-round series against the Golden State Valkyries. She was seen wearing a walking boot and walking with crutches on Friday at the press conference of her teammate Alanna Smith, who received the Defensive Player of the Year award.

Without Carrington, Minnesota’s bench loses a key player on both sides of the court. In the two games of the first-round series against the Valkyries, Carrington provided the team with an offensive boost, scoring six points in Game 1 and 11 in Game 2. In addition, she was selected for the first defensive team in 2024 and defended Golden State’s best guard on the court.

Carrington averaged 8.6 points in her 11 regular season games with the Lynx, shooting 48.5% overall and 45.5% from the 3-point line in those games, both career highs. She missed the final four regular season games due to a shoulder injury.
