Giants star Malik Nabers suffers torn ACL

A magnetic resonance imaging performed on Monday confirmed that New York Giants star wide receiver Malik Nabers suffered a season-ending ACL tear, according to a source.

Nabers was injured while trying to catch a deep pass down the right sideline in the first half of Sunday’s 21-18 victory against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Immediately, Nabers grabbed his right leg as he fell to the ground. Several Giants teammates rushed onto the field to see Nabers, who was in intense pain. Several players reacted as if they knew it was a serious injury.

The Pro Bowl receiver looked demoralized as he left the field. Finally, he waved to the fans as he was carted off the field.

Before leaving the game, Nabers had made two receptions for 20 yards.

It’s a big loss for the Giants. Nabers had a franchise-record 109 receptions for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns last season as a rookie. This year, in three games, he had 16 receptions for 251 yards and two touchdowns. Nabers has 127 receptions in the first 19 games of his career. Only Odell Beckham Jr. has more receptions in NFL history in the first 20 games of his career.
