Iga Swiatek vs. Jasmine Paolini: Final at the Cincinnati Open

Iga Swiatek and Jasmine Paolini will face each other in the Cincinnati Open final on Monday. Swiatek, the Wimbledon champion, has shown excellent performance this summer, securing her place in the final of the WTA 1000 event for the first time. Her path to the final included a victory over Elena Rybakina with a score of 7-5, 6-3. Rybakina, who had previously defeated Aryna Sabalenka, led the first set with a score of 5-3. However, Swiatek responded with a streak of four consecutive games, solidifying her advantage in the second set.

“It was a great match. We played with a very high intensity from the beginning. I just went for it. I knew I couldn’t ease off, I needed to be proactive.”

Swiatek also commented on the strategy employed against Rybakina’s powerful serves. Paolini, for her part, secured her place in the final after defeating Veronika Kudermetova with a score of 6-3, 6-7 (2), 6-3, setting up a rematch of last year’s French Open final. Despite losing a lead in the second set, Paolini managed to close out the match, with Kudermetova committing 75 unforced errors.
