Aryna Sabalenka Advances to US Open Final After Defeating Jessica Pegula

In an exciting US Open semi-final, the current champion, Aryna Sabalenka, demonstrated her superiority once again by defeating Jessica Pegula with scores of 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. This match, which took place on Thursday night, was a rematch of last year’s final.

With this victory, the world’s number one tennis player is one step away from becoming the first woman to win consecutive championships at Flushing Meadows since Serena Williams achieved it between 2012 and 2014.

Sabalenka will face the winner of the match between Amanda Anisimova and Naomi Osaka in Saturday’s final, seeking the coveted trophy.

Tonight’s match was much tougher than Sabalenka’s straight-sets victory over Pegula a year ago, which gave the 27-year-old her third Grand Slam title, all on hard courts.

Since then, Sabalenka was the runner-up against Madison Keys at the Australian Open in January and against Coco Gauff at Roland Garros in June, and was eliminated in the semifinals of Wimbledon by Anisimova in July.

When the match ended, after Sabalenka’s third match point, after two errors in her initial opportunities, the tennis player celebrated with euphoria.
