Holger Rune Suffers Achilles Injury and Will Be Out for a While

Danish tennis player Holger Rune, currently ranked number 11 in the world, announced that he will be out of the courts for a while due to an Achilles tendon injury that will require surgery. The injury occurred during the Nordic Open semi-final in Stockholm on Saturday, where Rune had to withdraw from the match against Ugo Humbert. At that moment, Rune was leading the match with a score of 6-4, 2-2.

In his post, Rune expressed his frustration and sadness over the injury. He described the pain of having to leave the court and the energy he felt at the tournament.

It’s tough. I felt a lot of joy on the court in Stockholm and it’s unbearable to think that I won’t feel this energy for a while.

The 22-year-old tennis player explained that his Achilles tendon suffered a “complete rupture in the proximal part” and that he will undergo surgery next week. Rune has managed to reach the quarter-finals in three Grand Slam tournaments and reached the number 4 position in the world ranking.
