Pegula and Noskova Advance to Semifinals at the China Open
American tennis player Jessica Pegula became the third representative of her country to reach the semi-finals of the China Open, after defeating her compatriot Emma Navarro this Friday. Pegula, seeded number five, overcame a complicated first set, where she wasted six set points, but reacted with authority in the following two sets to seal the victory with partials of 6-7 (2), 6-2 and 6-1.In her next challenge, Pegula will face Linda Noskova, who demonstrated her superiority by defeating the British player Sonay Kartal with a score of 6-3 and 6-4. Noskova, at just 20 years old, became the youngest Czech player to reach a WTA 1000 semifinal since the format was implemented in 2009. The other semifinal will present an American duel between the defending champion, Coco Gauff, and the third seed, Amanda Anisimova.I told myself not to get too frustrated. I stayed calm, tried to relax a bit, and not try so hard to execute the game plan. That allowed me to play with more freedom.
