Beatriz Haddad Maia Ends the 2025 Season Early
Brazilian tennis player Beatriz Haddad Maia has decided to end her 2025 season earlier than expected to focus on her health. The news was announced by Haddad Maia herself through a post on Instagram last Monday. The player, currently ranked number 40 in the world, added: “I am sure that I will come back stronger and the best is yet to come.”The previous week, during a WTA tournament in Seoul, the 29-year-old tennis player experienced breathing difficulties and hand tremors while resting between games. A physiotherapist checked her blood pressure before she continued playing. Haddad Maia, who was defending the title in Seoul, won her first-round match, but then lost in the round of 16 against Ella Seidel. The Brazilian led 5-2 in the third set and had a match point, but lost the last five consecutive games. In the 2025 season, Haddad Maia, who was previously among the top 10 players in the world, lost 26 of her 42 matches.“I am ending my 2025 season a little earlier than planned so I can rest my body and mind for a longer period,” she wrote.
