Spain Qualifies for the Davis Cup Final
Bologna, Italy – The Spanish tennis team secured their place in the Davis Cup final thanks to the outstanding performance of the doubles pair formed by Marcel Granollers and Pedro Martínez. In an exciting match, they managed to defeat the German duo composed of Tim Pütz and Kevin Krawietz, with a score of 6-2, 3-6 and 6-3, thus sealing Spain’s overall victory by 2-1 in the semi-final.
The road to the final was not easy. Alexander Zverev kept Germany’s hopes alive with a two-set victory over Jaume Munar. Previously, Pablo Carreño Busta had given Spain the first point by defeating Jan-Lennard Struff. Carreño Busta showed his composure by saving five consecutive set points in the second set tiebreak, securing the victory with a score of 6-4 and 7-6 (6).
The Granollers-Martínez pair surprised Pütz and Krawietz, inflicting only their second defeat in the Davis Cup. This victory boosted the Spanish team, which was without the injured Carlos Alcaraz, to its first final in six years.
In the final, Spain will face Italy, the defending champion of the tournament.
