Alex De Minaur Reaches 50 Wins in the Season

Shanghai – Alex De Minaur, seeded number seven, became the third player of the season to reach 50 tournament-level wins. This happened after defeating Nuno Borges with a score of 7-5, 6-2 at the Shanghai Masters on Wednesday. De Minaur showcased his prowess on the court by connecting 19 winners, securing his place in the quarterfinals of the Masters 1000 for the seventh time in his career, in a match that lasted one hour and 47 minutes. Only Carlos Alcaraz, with 67 victories, and Taylor Fritz, with 50, had managed to reach the 50-victory mark in 2025. In his previous best season, De Minaur accumulated 47 wins in 2024, in addition to obtaining two titles. In his next match, De Minaur will face Daniil Medvedev, seeded number 16, who managed to defeat Learner Tien with a score of 7-6 (6), 6-7 (1), 6-4. Additionally, Felix Auger-Aliassime, seeded number 12, eliminated Lorenzo Musetti, seeded number eight, with a score of 6-4, 6-2, securing his place in the quarterfinals against Arthur Rinderknech, who surprisingly defeated Jiri Lehecka, seeded number 15, with a result of 6-3, 7-6 (5). Rinderknech, ranked 54th, who previously eliminated Alexander Zverev, seeded number three, joins his cousin Valentin Vacherot in the quarterfinals.
