ORLANDO, Fla. – Lindsay Davenport has signed a two-year contract renewal to continue as captain of the United States team in the Billie Jean King Cup, the United States Tennis Association announced on Tuesday. Davenport led the US team to the competition final this year, their first appearance in that round since 2018. The US team was defeated by Italy. Davenport took over as captain in 2024. As a player, she contributed to the United States winning the event on three occasions: 1996, 1999, and 2000. Winner of three Grand Slam singles titles, she reached number 1 in the WTA rankings and was elected to the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2014.

It’s an incredible honor to serve as the U.S. Billie Jean King Cup captain, and I am thrilled and honored to continue doing so, especially during such an amazing time for women’s tennis in America.

Lindsay DavenportWith Coco Gauff at number 3, Amanda Anisimova at number 4, Jessica Pegula at number 6, and Madison Keys at number 7, this season marked the first time since 2004 that four American women were ranked in the top 10 at the end of the year. Back then, Davenport finished at number 1, accompanied by Serena Williams, Venus Williams, and Jennifer Capriati. The United States will play the qualifying matches for the Billie Jean King Cup in April.
