Brooksby advances in the Shanghai Masters after a solid victory

Shanghai – Jenson Brooksby continues to demonstrate his good form on the circuit. After his outstanding performance at the Japan Open, where he reached the semifinals, Brooksby achieved a resounding victory in the first round of the Shanghai Masters.

The American tennis player defeated James Trotter with a score of 7-6 (2), 6-1, displaying a dominant game.

Brooksby’s return to the courts marks a significant milestone after a two-year absence due to injuries and a suspension for failing to appear for doping tests.

In the Japan Open, Brooksby was defeated in the semifinals by his compatriot Taylor Fritz, who was seeded second in the tournament.

The seeded players in Shanghai, such as Jannik Sinner, recent champion of the China Open in Beijing, and Novak Djokovic, will not play their first-round matches until Friday.

Carlos Alcaraz, who defeated Fritz in the Japan Open final, announced that he will not participate in the Shanghai tournament.
