Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner Honor Stacey Allaster After Her Departure from the US Open

New York – Stacey Allaster was honored by Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner on Sunday, marking the end of her tenure as US Open tournament director.

Allaster, who was the first woman to hold this position, announced at the end of last year that she would be leaving her post and also that of executive director of professional tennis for the United States Tennis Association (USTA), to take on an advisory role and pursue other interests.

Both finalists thanked him during the trophy presentations after Alcaraz defeated Sinner to win the title.

Allaster joined the USTA in 2016 and became the US Open tournament director in 2020. Previously, she was the president and CEO of the WTA, where she significantly influenced the growth of women’s tennis and the equality of economic prizes for women, something that was already offered at the US Open and was later implemented at Roland Garros and Wimbledon.

In his new role, Allaster will collaborate in the search for a new tournament director.
