Alcaraz Misses Davis Cup Due to Injury

Carlos Alcaraz will not be able to compete in this year’s Davis Cup due to a hamstring injury. The Spanish tennis player, number one in the world, announced his withdrawal with great regret, following medical recommendations. I’ve always said that playing for Spain is the greatest thing there is, and I really wanted to help us fight for the Davis Cup.

Alcaraz, who debuted in the Davis Cup in 2022, has an overall record of 6-2, with 5-1 in singles. Spain has not won the tournament since 2019. Last year, Alcaraz also missed the Davis Cup due to physical problems. On that occasion, Spain was eliminated in the first round of the final phase in Malaga. The tennis player had expressed his desire to “win the Davis Cup someday, because for me it is a very important tournament”. Spain will face the Czech Republic in the quarterfinals, where the Czech team has renowned players. Alcaraz secured the number one ranking at the end of the year before losing in the ATP Finals. This year, Alcaraz won the French Open and the US Open, adding six Grand Slam titles.
