Steelers Place Broderick Jones on Injured Reserve
The Pittsburgh Steelers have placed starting left tackle Broderick Jones on injured reserve after suffering a neck injury during the game against the Bears last week. Jones will be out for at least the next four games, ruling him out until Week 17. Andrus Peat, selected in the first round by the New Orleans Saints in 2015, will take Jones’ place, protecting the quarterback’s blind side.Coach Mike Tomlin confirmed that Calvin Anderson was also considered for the left tackle position. Peat, who has primarily played guard since joining the Steelers during training camp, made 12 starts at left tackle for the Saints in 2023. On Sunday, he will be protecting a quarterback who is nearing 42 years old and dealing with a fracture in his left wrist. The Steelers also announced the promotion of cornerback Asante Samuel Jr. from the practice squad for Sunday’s game, which could mean his season debut. Samuel provides the Steelers with depth at a position that has suffered recent injuries to starters Joey Porter Jr. (hip) and Darius Slay (concussion). Samuel, ranked as the number 14 free agent in the offseason, signed with the Steelers’ practice squad on November 11th after undergoing spinal fusion surgery in the offseason.I’m always ready to play or start. I’ve been a starter for most of my career, so I always try to prepare myself like that and stay in that mindset.
Andrus Peat
I feel great. It’s the healthiest I’ve been, I’ve been dealing with it, and I fixed it, so now I feel good.
