Charles Oliveira vs. Rafael Fiziev: Main Event Canceled in UFC
The lightweight main event between Charles Oliveira and Rafael Fiziev, scheduled for October 11, has been canceled by the UFC.
The 155-pound fight, which was to headline the UFC Fight Night in Rio de Janeiro, is off due to an injury to Fiziev (13-4). Sources confirmed the news.
So far, the UFC has not issued any comments regarding Fiziev’s injury or a possible replacement to face Oliveira.
Oliveira (35-11) was scheduled to compete in his home country, Brazil, for the first time since March 2020. The 35-year-old fighter is looking to recover from a knockout loss to Ilia Topuria in June, in the fight for the vacant division title.
Fiziev, 32, was looking to consolidate his position after a decision victory over Ignacio Bahamondes in June. Previously, he suffered a decision loss to Justin Gaethje in March.
