Christian Pulisic of AC Milan Suffers Injury with the United States National Team
The AC Milan and US national team star player, Christian Pulisic, returns to Italy with a hamstring injury after his international commitment. Although a complete evaluation by the club is still pending, reports suggest he could be out of action for almost a month. This would mean that Pulisic would miss Sunday’s match against Fiorentina, as well as the Serie A matches against Pisa, Atalanta, Roma and Parma. The friendly matches played by the United States could have a high cost for Milan. A source revealed that Pulisic’s return flight to Milan was delayed and that he was still in the United States, adding that tests had not yet been carried out to determine the severity of the injury. Pulisic has been Milan’s most outstanding player this season, with six goals and two assists in seven matches. Previously, he missed a penalty in the goalless draw against Juventus before the international break. Pulisic, 27 years old, was affected by a right ankle injury last week and only entered the 1-1 draw against Ecuador on Friday in the 73rd minute. Despite this, and although the matches were friendlies, he started in the 2-1 victory over Australia on Tuesday, but had to be substituted at 26 minutes due to an apparent hamstring injury. After the match, United States coach Mauricio Pochettino suggested that the change in climate and altitude between the team’s first match in Austin and the match against Australia in Denver may have contributed to Pulisic’s injury. The Rossoneri hope to have him at least for the derby against Inter Milan on November 23, after the next international break. Milan is in third position in Serie A, two points behind AS Roma and the current champion, Napoli.I think it’s something that carries a huge risk. I don’t want to say it’s because of Christian or anything, but I think it was very hard for the player. We know how to prepare for the match and then play it. We feel very sad about this situation [Pulisic] because I think it’s difficult.
