Keylor Navas Joins Pumas: A New Chapter in Mexico

The renowned Costa Rican goalkeeper, Keylor Navas, has finalized his signing with the Pumas of the Liga MX, as announced by Newell’s Old Boys, his previous club. This agreement marks a new challenge for the experienced goalkeeper, who arrives in Mexican soccer with an impressive career. Navas, winner of three Champions League titles with Real Madrid, has signed a one-year contract with the university team. His debut is expected to be this Friday in the league match against Querétaro.
Navas is also expected to participate in the Leagues Cup next week, where Pumas will face Atlanta United, Orlando City, and Inter Miami CF in the group stage. Keylor Navas, 38 years old, arrives at Pumas after a brief six-month stint at Newell’s. His experience and leadership will be fundamental for the team. The goalkeeper demonstrated his quality in the recent Gold Cup, where he led Costa Rica. In addition to his Champions League titles, Navas has LaLiga titles, the Club World Cup and Super Cups in his trophy cabinet during his time at Real Madrid. Subsequently, he won three Ligue 1 titles with Paris Saint-Germain. Navas arrived at Newell’s as a free agent in January and played 16 matches. Pumas was looking for a replacement for goalkeeper Álex Padilla, who returned to his home club, Athletic Club, earlier this month. According to reports, Navas was interested in playing in the Liga MX to be closer to his home country, Costa Rica.
