Haaland Surpasses Shearer: Record of 100 Goals in the Premier League

1 Min Read
Erling Haaland continues to demonstrate his lethality in the Premier League. The Norwegian striker, with his goal in the 17th minute during the match between Manchester City and Fulham on Tuesday, became the fastest player to reach the 100-goal mark in the competition. Haaland surpassed the record previously set by Alan Shearer, who achieved his 100 goals in 124 matches in 1995. The City striker reached the figure in just 111 appearances. The match against Fulham also had a special meaning for Haaland, as he was born in Leeds during the time his father played for the Yorkshire club. This achievement is just the último of a series of records that Haaland has broken since his arrival at Manchester City in July 2022. With this goal, Haaland left behind emblematic figures of the Premier League in the race for 100 goals, including Thierry Henry (141 matches), Sergio Agüero (147 matches) and Mohamed Salah (162 matches). Despite this milestone, Haaland still has a way to go to reach the absolute record for goals in the Premier League, which is currently held by Alan Shearer with 260 goals.
