Manchester City’s star striker, Erling Haaland, continues to shatter records in the football world. On Thursday, the Norwegian reached the 50-goal mark in the Champions League, setting a new record for precocity in the competition. Haaland scored the first goal for City in their match against Napoli at the Etihad Stadium, reaching this historic figure in just 49 games. This achievement far surpasses the previous record, set by Ruud van Nistelrooy, former Manchester United and Real Madrid striker, who needed 62 matches to reach the same number of goals.

At 23 years old, Haaland is positioned as the second youngest player to reach 50 goals in the Champions League, surpassed only by Kylian Mbappé. The Norwegian striker has equaled Thierry Henry in ninth position on the list of all-time top scorers in the Champions League. The match against Napoli, the Italian champion, marked the beginning of Manchester City’s European campaign, which seeks to revalidate the title obtained in 2023.
