Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye was sent off in the 13th minute of the match against Manchester United on Monday.
The red card came after Gueye apparently slapped teammate Michael Keane.
The incident occurred after a discussion between Gueye and Keane, shortly after Everton managed to defend a counterattack from Manchester United.
After the play, Gueye and Keane exchanged words and pushed each other, before the Senegalese international made direct contact with his teammate’s face.
The referee did not hesitate to show the red card, while Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford tried to calm Gueye.
The score remained at 0-0 at the time of the expulsion.
