Calafiori Withdraws from the Italian National Team Due to Injury
Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori has withdrawn from the Italian national team camp due to injury, according to coach Gennaro Gattuso.
Italy, which will play its last World Cup qualifying match against Norway on Sunday, will not have the full-back.
Calafiori left the concentration. We tried Calafiori, he had some problems. I thank him for his commitment: he stayed here for a week, he could have played perhaps, but it wouldn’t have been fair to him or to Arsenal. We’ll see who plays between Gianluca Mancini and Alessandro Buongiorno.Calafiori’s injury represents a setback for Arsenal, who currently lead the Premier League with 26 points. The team is already without Martin Ødegaard, Gabriel Martinelli, Victor Gyökeres, Noni Madueke, and Kai Havertz.
Italy needs to win by nine goals or more against Norway to qualify directly for the 2026 World Cup.
